biter spacecraft) on MRO is operating since 2006. The radar is measuring signals reflected by the surface and subsurface. The results are presented in the form called “radagrams”. The work to be conducted is to obtain and process in a customized way radargrams of the Valles Marineris surface and subsurface on Mars. Cel zamówienia The objective is to obtain in 12 months radargrams of the Valles Marineris subsurface on Mars, identify subsurface layering, and estimate the dielectric constant of the first layer, using the Mars SHAllow RADar Sounder instrument (SHARAD) from the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter spacecraft. Przedmiot zamówienia The work to be carried out includes the following activities:
A1. Selection of suitable orbits over the region of interest (ROI) selected by the FNP/TEAM/eXMHYDR project PI.
A2. Plot of the suitable orbits on the ROI
A3. Realisation of radargram dataset D1 using a standardised procedure
A4. Selection of the promising radargrams for subsurface layering detection (with the project PI)
A5. Realisation of a new radargram dataset D2 from D1 using an optimised procedure for each orbit
A6. Detection of subsurface layering on D2 through comparison between D2 radargrams and topographic simulations
A7. Layer composition analysis by calibration of radargram with estimation of the surface dielectric constant
A8. Delivery of all the results to the PI in standard digital format
